Welcome to the Workforce Capability and Development UnitThe Workforce Capability and Development Unit utilises a strength based approach to capability development contextualised into an Insititute professional development framework to provide for the needs of the diverse range of full time-time and part-time staff located across the Institute. Our clients include educational and non-educational staff from base grade through to Institute Managers. The professional development framework is underpinned by key State and Institute Directions, policy and procedures and provides strategies, outcomes and indicators to support and equip staff to work effectively in the fast changing VET environment. Purpose StatementThe Workforce Capabililty and Development Unit works closely with Institute Faculties, College Managers and Service Support Units to identify appropriate professional development strategies and develop relevant learning and development activitites that strive to meet the professional development needs of individual staff members and the Institute Strategic Directions. The Unit also has reponsbility to evaluate the effectiveness of Institute training and communicate to staff the relevance and importance of their activities in contributing to quality objectives for the Institute. Other responsibilities are to publish the Training/Schedule Calendar on the intranet, and to maintain records of training. TAFE NSW Workforce Development GuaranteeThe TAFE NSW Workforce Development Guarantee gives a commitment to staff to develop capabilities to meet the challenges of the 21st Century vocational education and training environment. The investment by TAFE NSW is for professional development to be provided for 3500 staff each year for three years. This commitment is for: · Industry and local communities to meet their service needs; · Head teachers and managers to assist in meeting labour shortages; · Stakeholders that future leaders will be developed across TAFE NSW. The purpose of the Workforce Development strategy is to underscore communication and effective cultural change across the Institute to: 1. enable sharing of information 2. update knowledge and use of teaching and learning methodology 3. model recognition and work-based teaching and learning methodology 4. improve communication and networking 5. enable professional conversations across a broad range of staff |
